15/12/2015 – Success for Coyle White Devine’s Private Crime Team as ex-RBS Trader Cleared of Tax Fraud
Coyle White Devine (“CWD”) have successfully represented Vincent Walsh at his trial in relation to an allegation of ‘Conspiracy to Cheat the Revenue’. Following a trial lasting several weeks, Mr Walsh was unanimously acquitted by the jury at Southwark Crown Court on 10th December 2015. What makes this result all the more remarkable is that CWD were not instructed to replace the original solicitors until three weeks before the start of the trial.
“The work carried out by our team in this case, given that there was such a short period of time in which to get to grips with all of the issues and in excess of twenty thousand pages of evidence, has been remarkable”, said Steve Foster, private crime case manager at CWD. “It shows just what can be achieved by total commitment, teamwork and an unshakable desire to obtain the best results possible for our clients. Paul Coleman and I cannot praise highly enough the work and advocacy of trial counsel, Matthew McDonagh of Outer Temple Chambers. His care and skill, both in and out of the courtroom, have been absolutely first class. We also wish to acknowledge the invaluable input from Pete Newman and thank him for the huge part he has played in getting us all over the finish line. Finally, we want to say just how delighted we are for Vincent Walsh, who worked as hard as anyone in preparing this matter for trial and has rightly been cleared by the jury.”
