Ben joined CWD as a trainee solicitor in 2010, having obtained a 2:1 in Law from the University of Surrey and a Distinction in Legal Practice from the College of Law. Ben qualified as a solicitor in July 2012.
Ben specialises in helping employers and employees resolve all manner of disputes which arise in the workplace. Ben is experienced in advising employers on HR issues (including everything from contracts, disciplinary and grievance issues and redundancy to contract variation, workforce agreements and TUPE….and most things in between) and employees on their employment rights (including maternity, paternity and family rights, discrimination and flexible working), and he very often drafts and advises on Settlement Agreements. For employers and employees alike, Ben finds himself very often involved in Employment Tribunal proceedings right across the country.
Ben is also trained and experienced in dealing with civil and commercial litigation within the Queen’s Bench Division of the High Court, insolvency litigation within the Chancery Division of the High Court and criminal matters before the Magistrates’ Court (specifically driving offences).
Ben married his long term girlfriend in 2012 and they have a young family. In the little spare time that he has, you will find him running to maintain the fitness he gained marathon running, or (even more rarely) on a golf course. He is also a long suffering supporter of Leeds United!
